What is 4-20mA Reverse Scaling?

Industrial instrumentation systems mein transmitter actual process value ko electrical current signal mein convert karta hai. PLC ya DCS phir us signal ko engineering value mein convert karta hai. Isi process ko Reverse Scaling kaha jata hai.

Example ke liye agar pressure transmitter ki range 0-10 Bar hai:

  • 4mA = 0 Bar
  • 20mA = 10 Bar
  • 12mA = 5 Bar

4-20mA Signal Standard Kyu Use Hota Hai?

4-20mA duniya ka sabse popular industrial analog signal standard hai.

  • Noise immunity strong hoti hai
  • Long cable distance possible hota hai
  • Signal loss kam hota hai

4mA ko Live Zero kehte hain. Agar signal 0mA ho jaye toh samajh jao wire break ya loop fault hai.

Reverse Scaling Formula

PLC programming aur instrumentation systems mein niche diya gaya standard formula use hota hai:

Physical Value = ((mA - 4) ÷ 16) × (URV - LRV) + LRV

Formula Explanation

  • mA - 4 → Signal ka active span
  • 16 → Total current span (20 - 4)
  • URV - LRV → Process range span
  • + LRV → Zero offset add karta hai

1. Pressure Measurement

Level transmitters meter, feet aur percentage level ko PLC tak bhejte hain.

3. Temperature Measurement

Temperature transmitters RTD ya Thermocouple signal ko 4-20mA mein convert karte hain.

4. Flow Measurement

Flow meters m³/hr, LPH aur GPM values ko analog signal mein convert karte hain.

Signal Below 4mA

Agar signal 3.8mA se niche aa raha hai toh possible reasons:

  • Loop fault
  • Transmitter failure
  • Calibration issue
  • Power supply low

Signal Above 20mA

20.5mA se upar signal overload ya sensor fault indicate karta hai.

Wrong Scaling Problem

Agar PLC aur field reading mismatch ho rahi hai toh:
